How do I make a booking enquiry?

How soon will I need to book?

It is recommended that you book as soon as possible as we have a limited amount of space during the Stag and Hen takeover weekends. Bookings are dealt with on a first come first served basis. Please note that a booking is only reserved once the deposit has been paid and then within 6 weeks of the arrival date the full balance is required.

What should I expect from the weekend?

Let your weekend begin!

The Ultimate Adventure Centre staff will look after you from the moment you arrive and will be able to assist you with anything you may need during the weekend. The accommodation and activities will already be pre-booked and you will be given an Itinerary of your weekend to include session times depending upon the package you have booked prior to your visit so you know where you will need to be and when. Just relax and be ready to enjoy some great experiences.

What do the packages include?

Each package is slightly different, but all packages include 2 nights accommodation, 2 x breakfasts, Friday night BBQ, access to the beer tent and Ultimate Disc Golf. The only variable of the packages is the number and type of activities your group would like to book.

Why are these packages only available on particular dates?

As a centre we have taken the decision to allocate set weekends for Stag and Hen so that we can manage customer expectations and also manage the site in a more suitable manner as this will limit the user groups on-site and will allow your group to have a specifically tailored weekend.

Is there a 1-night option?

Your group could choose to stay for 1 night only but there would be no reduction in the price and the full package price would apply. This is due to the fact that we would be unable to sell the 2nd night to another party.

Can I upgrade to the next package later?

Where possible we would ask you to book the most relevant package in the first instance as we would be unable to guarantee availability of activities should you wish to add them at a later date and we would not want your group to potentially miss out on an experience that they wanted to partake in.

Is there a minimum number of people allowed?

Yes, due to the accommodation types the minimum allowed to book in for a stag or hen weekend would be x4.

What accommodation will we get allocated?

The type of accommodation allocated with depend upon your group size. We have the Adventure Barns that are suitable for groups sleeping up to 10 or 12 which are en-suite and suitable for wheelchair access and then there are the Atlantic Lodges which have access to the toilet and shower block and are suitable for groups of x5 up to x16. Room allocations will be made dependent upon group type and size.

It is possible to upgrade your accommodation to the Yurt Village and these will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes, a deposit of 25% will be required at the time of booking if there is more than 6 weeks until the date of your visit. The outstanding balance will then be payable 6 weeks prior to your visit. If you book within 6 weeks of the requested date then the full balance will be payable upon booking.

How do I pay?

Payment can be made either online or by calling the centre directly.

Are there any additional hidden costs?

No, everything that is noted within the packages is included within your visit. However, please note that the packages do not include cost of transportation, alcoholic drinks, lunch or an evening meal unless otherwise stated or agreed.

Is there a minimum age?

As we are running the site for Stag and Hen only weekends it is recommended that the minimum age is 18.

Is there parking on-site?

Yes, there is free parking on-site

Will my group take part in the activities together?

Yes, your group will be placed on the same activities so that you take part together for the duration of your stay.

What do we wear for the activities?

Depending upon the activities selected there will be different clothing requirements which will be emailed across to you after booking. All specialist equipment such as wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets will be provided by the centre of 3rd party activity providers.

Is there a weight limit for any of the activities?

Yes, there is a weight limit for the Mountain Boarding and the Awesome4some activity which is 20 stones or 127kg. With regard to the other activities we aim to provide equipment suitable for a range of shapes and sizes but it may not always be available.

Do the activities run in all weathers?

Most of the activities we provide are outside and therefore run in all weathers. The only weather that may limit or prevent a session from going ahead would be lightening, ice or heavy winds. In this instance the session will either be paused by the Instructor or will be cancelled. If a session is cancelled where possible the centre will reschedule the session to a different time during your stay or offer a different activity. If this is not possible then a refund will be provided.

What do I need to bring?

You will need to bring the following:

  • Sleeping Bag and Pillow
  • Towels
  • Swimwear
  • Pair of old trainers
  • Pair of shorts for over the wetsuit if participating in Coasteering
  • Weather and activity suitable clothing – activities may be wet and muddy so please bear this in mind when making your cloth choices.
  • Toiletries – Don’t forget your toothbrush
  • Fancy Dress and a Camera!

Wetsuits and buoyancy aids are provided for activities where they are required but if you would rather bring your own if you have one please feel free to do so.

Can we drink on-site?

Please note that no drinking of alcohol is allowed on-site whilst your group have sessions booked as no-one under the influence of either alcohol or drugs will be allowed to participate in either on-site or off-site activities. Health and Safety is very important to the centre.

However, drinking in the evenings after all activities have been completed is fine and a Beer tent will be available on-site for your group to visit and purchase drinks from so that you can chill-out and relax after a physical but enjoyable day.

Do we have to participate in all parts of an activity?

Certainly not, if there are certain aspects of a session that you are unable to complete please just inform the instructor and they will be able to assist you.

Can we pre-book additional food?

Yes, we have an on-site café that will be able to provide lunch and evening meals if required but these will need to be pre-booked. Drinks and snacks will be available during your stay.

Do I have to book a full package, or can we just come for the day?

Staying the weekend is a cost-effective method of booking activities and accommodation and making a memorable weekend of your stag or hen gathering but on occasion we may be able to accommodate activity only days during the takeover weekends. Please contact us to discuss.

What facilities are on-site or nearby?

On-site we have the following:

  • Café
  • Wi-fi
  • Free car parking
  • Shower and toilet Block (if in accommodation that is not en-suite)
  • Fire Pit and Chiminea Huts (pre-bookable)
  • BBQ Hire and food (pre-bookable)

Nearby we have:

  • The Thatch – local pub at Abbotsham which is approximately a 10 – 15-minute walk into the village
  • Westward Ho! – nearest sandy beach with cafes, restaurants, pubs, surfing, arcades
  • Bideford – approximately a 10-minute drive into the town centre
  • Barnstaple = approximately 20- minute drive

What time do I need to arrive and what time is departure?

Arrivals are from 3pm on the Friday and then departure is before 12.00 noon on the Sunday. If you have activities booked prior to check in on the Friday please arrive for your session and then we will be able to check you in afterwards. If you have an afternoon session on the Sunday we would request that you vacate the accommodation prior to the start of your afternoon session.   

A member of our group is disabled can they still come and take part?

We have accommodation that is accessible to wheelchair users. In terms of activities these would depend upon the specific requirements of the individual wishing to take part. Please contact the centre to discuss further.

Are all the activities physical?

A reasonable level of fitness is required for all the activities that we offer at the Ultimate Adventure Centre. Please note that for those who are unable to complete activities no refund will be offered.

For some activities you will also have the requirement to be able to swim unassisted which depending upon the activity will be from at least 10 metres to 25 metres and the Surfing activity needs you to be able to have a good swimming ability.   

Are staff members on-site at all times?

There will be staff on-site both during the day and the evenings. During the day there will be a Site Senior along with activity instructors and during the night at least x1 Duty Manager will be present.

What time do we need to arrive for activities?

For all on-site activities your group will need to arrive 15 minutes before your allocated start time so that you can book in and meet the Instructor/s. Please ensure that you bring and/or are wearing the appropriate clothing.

For all off-site activities your group will need to arrive 30 minutes prior to the allocated start time so that you can book in, meet the Instructor/s and be given the equipment/kit required for the activity. Please ensure that you bring all the required clothing.  

Is transportation provided to off-site activities?

Transportation is not provided and is not included in the price that has been paid for the packages shown of the website. If required, we can provide the details of a local taxi company but many of the groups we have had visit previously usually use their own transport to travel to off-site activity providers.

Can we leave site and come back whenever we want?

Residents are free to leave site whenever they wish although we minimise vehicle access around site to up until 10pm at night with pedestrian access to site restricted to up until 12pm. Taxis can drop groups off at the top of the site by the Booking Office but will not be allowed further than this. Please be mindful of other site users when returning to site late at night.  

Is the Ultimate Adventure Centre insured and licensed?

The Ultimate Adventure Centre has £5 million public liability insurance. We are licensed by the Adventure Activity Licensing Authority (AALA) and are DCC approved.

Do I need my own insurance?

It is recommended that you have your own personal travel insurance as the centre does not hold responsibility for any loses, damages to your belongings or yourself during your stay at the Ultimate Adventure Centre. This will cover you for cancellations and potential injury.
